We are a group of Spanish teachers from all over Guatemala who have a common goal: weaving our culture into Spanish education so that students leave here with an understanding of what life is like in Guatemala. We are a highly trained team with extensive experience working as teachers of Spanish. We specialize in working with non-native speakers of all levels (especially native English speakers).
We offer lessons in the areas of Quetzaltenango (Xela), San Pedro La Laguna, San Marcos La Laguna, and around Lake Atitlan

These courses are developed to provide personalized Spanish education (ONE STUDENT PER TEACHER), and the courses range from one week to 3 or 4 months, depending on the student's schedule. The lessons can run from 3 to 8 hours per day, depending on student preference (contact us for more information).
We offer students the opportunity to live with a local family and discover the wealth of culture, tradition, and customs in Guatemala (as well as practive Spanish!). If you do not wish to live with a local family, we will provide you with all the necessary information to find hotels, hostels, or rental houses, so that you can choose the housing appropriate for you.
Along with the classes, we provide daily activites for no extra cost. These activities include salsa lessons, weaving classes, hiking, etc.
The main advantage of Spanish Step by Step is that we are passionate about our work. Unlike many other programs, where teachers are paid $2 per hour and school owners take most of the profit, our program was developed to provide teachers with adequate incomes to provide better lives for them and their families. Our program is open to people from all walks of life and all points of view. Diversity of opinion is essential to achieve our common goals: to learn, speak, listen, share, think, understand, and maintain our quality of service that meets the needs of both students and instructors. Our motto is "IT TAKES TWO TO KNOW ONE." Come let us teach you about our language, our culture, and ourselves, and you may just walk away understanding yourself, our world, and your place in it better than before.
